INFO
Holistic, individual care for women and their families at a time in their lives where choices matter most. I believe in women and their ability to give birth instinctively and intuitively.

Homebirth with Helen seeks to provide a professional and relaxed service to clients, where no questions feel uncomfortable or inappropriate. Respecting the most intimate of life experiences, I offer information and choice regarding quality antenatal care, facilitating physiological birth and therefore creating a smooth and gentle transition to family life with a new baby.
Provided to my clients is my mobile number, active 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

My qualifications and experience include over 25 years of nursing expertise across a wide spectrum involving Medical/Surgical, Neonatal Special Care and Intensive Care, Child & Family Health, Community and Emergency. My certificates include Acute Care Nursing (Emergency). Completing Midwifery training in 2011, I worked for 8 years full time as a Clinical Midwifery Specialist in a birth unit, working independently with women and their families throughout the antenatal, labour and birth experience and postnatal period. Completing my Masters degree in Clinical Midwifery in 2013, I frequently update my knowledge base and skills. I have attended workshops in Acupressure, Aromatherapy and ‘Spinning Babies’ techniques to assist women to achieve natural birth using methods that encourage success. In 2018 I completed the course ‘Prescribing for Midwives’ at Griffith University, enabling me to transition to a Private Practice Midwife.

I have four gorgeous (now adult) children; my first two are boys who were born at home in New Zealand. They both have children (the latest one born in water at home) – my much-loved grandchildren! My youngest are both girls who were made in Australia, born in a Midwifery-led birthing unit as there was no access to my birthing place of choice – home.
